[PICS] Kim Hyun Joong – THEFACESHOP Philipines by noblekhj

Some close-up shots of Hyun Joong during his recent visit here in Manila...I think this was in SM Mall of Asia, where he visited a Face Shop branch and had the photo op with the 5 lucky winners of the Face Shop promo contest...And his top, Hyung Jun Baby also has something like it (see previous post)...

Kim Of Hearts: Korean Star Kim Hyun Joong Captivates Pinoy Fans

Here's a feature of Hyun Joong at Cosmo.ph...Waa, it took me a long time to upload all the pics because of my really slow connection...And I made sure to include all the captions too :)... I love all the close-up shots...How I wish I can see him up-close like this in the future... A fan girl friend of mine said she realized she should have pursued her passion for journalism when she was in college and would gladly give up her corporate life just to interview Hyun Joong. I feel the same way too, sometimes. :)...And I'm looking forward to Hyun Joong's next visit here in Manila. Maybe, just maybe, I'll get to have my own close encounter with KHJ. :)

Armed with talent, flawless looks, and a heart of gold, there's nowhere but up for Korean pop star and heartthrob Kim Hyun Joong, who continues to win hearts the world over. He's famous for being the leader of Korean idol group SS501, but his career (and his universal charm) really skyrocketed after playing the role of Yoon Ji Hoo in the hit K-soap Boys Over Flowers. He also played Baek Seung Jo in his recent drama Playful Kiss, which was also a huge hit.

It's been one year and two months since his Manila fans first swooned over the star in the flesh. (He last visited for a sold-out concert where he raised and donated funds to benefit the Abiertas House of Friendship, a center for unwed pregnant mothers.) To our delight, the 25-year-old hottie graced Manila shores once again last August 25 to promote his first solo mini-album "Break Down." We caught up with him at a press conference at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, and on the same day, he launched his album via a "High-Five Touch" event at the TriNoma Activity Center in Quezon City.

The album launch was a huge success. Even before the mall opened, kilig fans were lined up outside--waiting to get their copy of "Break Down" and meet the Kim Hyun Joong, of course! The first 500 who purchased the CD even got to exchange high-fives with the cutie!

"Break Down" marks Kim Hyun Joong's comeback to the music scene, this time as a solo artist. The album is a mix of musical genres, from heavy urban dance tracks to strong R&B and even bubble gum pop. For his solo debut, he shed his pretty-boy charm for a more mature, masculine one. He told us he has plans to do an Asia concert tour that will include Manila as a pit stop! We'll be looking forward to that, for sure!

At the press conference, he told his fans, "Thank you for all the love you have toward me. It inspires me to bring up better songs and better performances." Proving to be a huge hit in Asia and beyond, Kim Hyun Joong is shining brighter than ever as an international star.

Launch the gallery to see photos of the gorgeous Kim Hyun Joong from his press conference!

Kim Hyun Joong's solo mini-album "Break Down" is available in all record bars nationwide, exclusively distributed by PolyEast Records in cooperation with KeyEast Entertainment and CJ E&M Korea.

Kim Hyun Joong arrives at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel for his press conference and album launch.

Kim Hyun Joong sits down to answer a few questions from the press gathered at the event.

K-drama fans best know him as Yoon Ji Hoo--his role in the popular 2009 romantic comedy series Boys Over Flowers.
You've seen him most recently in the new series Playful Kiss, where he plays a popular and genius male student named Baek Seung Jo.

Kim Hyun Joong gives his Filipino fans a heart-melting smile.
With looks like that, it's easy to see why this boy is an international hit.

He began his music career as the leader of the boy band SS501 back in 2005.

The name of the band has a special meaning: The first "S" stands for "Superstar." The second is an abbreviation for "Singer." The combination of 5, 0, and 1 symbolizes "five members united as one forever."
The band's first full album was called S.T.01 Now, followed by a second album All My Love, and most recently, a series of mini-albums.

The boys of SS501, however, are now focusing on doing their own thing. Kim Hyun Joong, for instance, is launching his debut solo album "Break Down."

Kim Hyun Joong had just completed his South Korea and U.S. tour a few months earlier, before embarking on an Asian tour to promote his solo project.

With that smile and undeniable charisma, it's no wonder this Korean star drew over a thousand Filipino fans to his album launch!

Kim Hyun Joong revealed at the press conference that the release of this album marks his growth as a musician

He said that doing this project as a solo performer opens a lot of new doors for him.

Earlier this year, "Break Down" was released in neighboring Asian countries like China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. The reception was impressive!
Kim Hyun Joong's album has six tracks and one instrumental version of the title track "Break Down."
He revealed that the title track is his personal favorite.
"Break Down" is a powerful synthesized song with an urban style, which features a stylish rapping by South Korea's Double K.

The song was actually produced by Ken Lewis (the same producer behind the hits of Eminem, Kanye West, and Usher!).

Other album highlights include "Intro (Let Me Go)," which opens with a pipe organ melody and the upbeat tune "Yes I Will."

He believes his album shows a different and more mature side of him, compared to his SS501 days.

He moved from the synthesizer instrumentals, heavy beats, and bubblegum pop to more artistic musical freedom. He has created mature yet catchy sounds.
He told us, "This is a very personal project because I was hands-on in producing this record. I was involved in all the processes of the album, from the lyrics to the jacket design."
The album is currently getting attention for the track "Kiss Kiss," which is heating up the airwaves.
"Kiss Kiss" is a pop/dance song accompanied by an acoustic guitar. The song's music video is now on MYX top charts.
The album also features a previously released single "Please." It still proves to be a hit!

He expressed that one of his biggest dreams would be to do a free concert--for charity!
Even his fans in Manila inspire him. He shared that he was both "shocked" and "amazed" by the warm welcome he received from the moment he arrived in the Philippines.

He says he hopes to include the Philippines in his plans for an upcoming Asia tour.

Young gals and older ladies alike were seen sporting Kim Hyun Joong fan gear! Many of them admitted to being fans since his Boys Over Flowers days. He peered in amusement at the turn-out.
"Thank you," he said, "for all the love you're [giving] me. It inspires me to bring up better songs and better performances."

Kim stood up for a short photo-op before the program ended.
Don't worry, fan girls, we can definitely look forward to seeing more of Kim Hyun Joong (even sooner than you think, in Cosmo.ph)!

He revealed that when he finishes the Asian concert tour, he'll be back on your screens, possibly for a new TV series and a movie.

Kim Hyun Joong waves goodbye to the crowd gathered at his album launch. It was truly a pleasure to see and chat with this hot Korean star.
"We love Hyun Joong!" his fans declared.

Kim Hyun Joong loves the scent of coconut oil

By: Alex Y. Vergara (Philippine Daily Inquirer)

The Korean pop star and Face Shop endorser got his first whiff on a visit to Cebu last year.

Like most young people his age, Korean pop star Kim Hyun Joong savors the chance to travel the world over as The Face Shop’s brand ambassador. But he’s also the first to admit that traveling for days on end could take its toll on his skin.
“I can’t tell you my favorite Face Shop product because I use a lot,” he said in Korean, through an interpreter. “If ever there’s one, it would be E’thym moisturizer.”
He also emphasized the importance of using sunblock and moisturizer, especially in a tropical country like the Philippines. Even men, he said, are well advised to shield their skin from the sun’s strong and harmful ultraviolet rays.

Fresh-looking
Fresh from a show the night before, Kim faced the media, including a number of bloggers and fans, Friday last week at the Rockwell Club to talk a bit about his career, including his advocacy of helping Abiertas, a temporary home for disadvantaged single mothers.
Dressed in a form-fitting dark-gray suit and sporting short strawberry blond hair, the singer-actor, who was first seen by Filipino fans two years ago in the Korean soap opera “Boys over Flowers,” looked fresh and none the worse for wear.
He started endorsing The Face Shop almost exactly a year ago. Established in 2003, the brand has made a name for itself as a high-quality cosmetics and facial-care brand that uses “natural” ingredients such as flowers, grains, fruits, mineral water and even oriental medicine.
The Face Shop is now said to be the leading natural cosmetics and skincare brand in Korea, and is represented locally by Suyen Corp., the same company behind Bench. The brand is sold in 25 stores nationwide.
Brian Lim, Suyen Corp.’s VP for business development, revealed plans to add 10 more stores within the next year.
“The Face Shop has its own growing following in the Philippines,” said Lim. “The presence of a Korean pop star like Kim to endorse Face Shop is always welcome. It definitely strengthens the brand.”
Both the brand’s makeup and skincare lines are doing well among Filipino women, said Lim. He attributed this to the fact that The Face Shop products are “friendly” to Asian skin. And like Filipinas, Koreans are also fond of skin whiteners.
Part of the deal he forged with The Face Shop is for Kim to fly to any of the 22 countries outside Korea where the brand is present. The Philippines happened to be the last leg of his Asian tour, which also included doing a series of shows and personal appearances.

Harmless questions

In keeping with the dictates imposed by his handlers, Kim remained curt and a bit evasive about his answers even to seemingly harmless questions. When asked, for instance, what make-up style on girls he finds “incorrect,” his interpreter reminded journalists even before the star could answer of a supposed agreement between Kim’s camp and The Face Shop for him to avoid answering “personal” questions.
In his attempts to be evasive, he ended up mouthing a number of motherhood statements.
“I don’t judge [a person] based on looks,” he said. “I go more for inner beauty.”
And if he were to choose between acting and music, it would be “like asking a child whom do you love best—mom or dad.”
But he did reveal that he loves the scent of coconut oil. Kim said he learned about it when he had a massage last year while visiting Cebu. This prompted host Grace Lee, a Manila-based Korean DJ, to ask aloud a naughty question in English who that “lucky” masseuse could be. All the while, Kim appeared—or perhaps tried to appear—clueless.
Kim’s best, most candid moments were on full display with fans Patria and Maru Ragasa, the mother-and-daughter team who won an auction of the Korean heartthrob’s heather-gray sports shorts. He gamely posed for pictures with them soon after giving each woman a kiss.
Proceeds from the auction plus donations worth P500,000 from The Face Shop Philippines went directly to women of Abiertas, one of several charities Kim supports the world over.

Ideal way
How the Ragasas won the bid is a story in itself. Maru, a judge and stroke survivor, was thinking of an ideal way to celebrate her mother Patria’s birthday. She ditched an initial plan to throw a party when she learned that Kim was auctioning off a number of personal items he used last year during his Philippine trip.
From a minimum bid of P10,000, Maru ended up shelling out P100,000 for charity. It was also probably her way of saying thank you to her mother, an avid Kim fan and her primary caregiver. Patria’s bedroom, said Maru, is on its way to becoming a shrine to Kim.
“I’ve been to the Philippines before, but this trip is a little more special for me because of the chance to work for our unfortunate sisters,” Kim said. “Thank you and don’t forget [to keep] the warmth in your hearts.”

Kim Hyun Joong shines bright in Philippine visit

Korean hallyu star and Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards veteran winner Kim Hyun Joong personally greeted the Philippine press and his fans on August 25 as part of his Asia-wide promotional activities for "Break Down", his first mini album.
As previously reported in Yahoo! Philippines OMG!, Kim Hyun Joong fans have been counting the days to his Manila visit. In fact, Filipino Triple S and Henecians, as Kim Hyun Joong fans are called, have created several consolidated efforts to show their love for Kim Hyun Joong including fan chants, welcoming (and farewell) committees, and a lot (and I mean a lot!) of fan gifts.
Kim Hyun Joong initially became popular in the country for his portrayal of the unrequited lover Yoon Ji Hoo in "Boys Over Flowers". His fans also know him from his previous reality TV stint in "We Got Married" where he was "married" to an older Korean singer named Hwang Bo. His latest drama starrer, 'Playful Kiss' generated high ratings for GMA7 during its local run. Aside from acting, Kim Hyun Joong is also known for his singing and dancing talents as leader of the idol group SS501. "Break Down" is his first release as a solo performer.
Kim Hyun Joong is known to his fans by a myriad of titles or terms of endearment. The more popular Kim Hyun Joong titles include "Leader" for being the leader of idol group SS501, "4-D" or "4-Dimensional" for his many out-of-this-world quips during interviews, and "Walking Statue" for his near perfect physical form.
During his press conference held at the Edsa Shangrila Hotel, Kim Hyun Joong revealed that he indeed deserved these titles.
Kim Hyun Joong as 'Leader'

Kim Hyun Joong's commitment to perfecting his craft, which includes singing and acting, is apparent when he expressed that "being a singer and an actor at the same time is a great task for me." He further expressed that: "In my official album, I was involved in the whole process including jacket design, lyrics, melody…all in all and with your love, this will be a great success."
Asked about his upcoming projects, Kim Hyun Joong revealed that he is working on a second album due out in October and that he will start an Asian concert tour by December. Without being prompted, the star showed his leadership when he expressed that he will try to include the Philippines as a stop in his Asian tour. He also mentioned plans to do a drama and perhaps a movie in 2012.
Kim Hyun Joong as '4-D' or 'Four-Dimensional'
Kim Hyun Joong is known for his propensity to give unique and slightly kooky responses to interview questions inspiring fans to tag him as "The 4-D Idol". So, did he exhibit "4-Dness" during the press conference? The answer is a resounding "Yes!"
When asked about which music video was the most memorable for him, Kim Hyun Joong expressed that he worked hard on all of them. However, after a fan shouted "How about Kiss Kiss?" Kim Hyun Joong offered his sweet smile and said "Well, I'm telling the truth, 'Kiss Kiss' was the lowest budget music video" eliciting laughter from the press.
Kim Hyun Joong also exhibited his "4-Dness" when he tried to give his microphone to his translator who had some problems with his. Kim Hyun Joong even went as far as trying to fix the microphone by taking it apart. Exactly who is the star here? You or the translator? There is indeed something 4-D yet extremely lovable about that gesture.

Kim Hyun Joong as 'Walking Statue'
There's no denying it. Kim Hyun Joong is one of the finest Korean stars of this generation. His tall physique, glowing skin, stylish blond hair, and perfect profile lives up to the title "Walking Statue".
Wearing a semi-formal black suit with leather details, Kim Hyun Joong can just stand in front and it will be enough to satisfy his fans. There are stars that look good in photos but look ordinary in person. This cannot be said of Kim Hyun Joong. If you think he looks good in photos, you should see him in person. Photos simply do not do him justice.
Kim Hyun Joong's 'Hi Five Touch Event'
Kim Hyun Joong's "Hi Five Touch Event" at Ayala's Trinoma Mall was a real success as 500 Filipino fans got to run up to the star and give him a "hi-five" or in Filipino, an "apir!"
This unique fan event, the first of its kind in the country, reveals an innovative way for fans to interact with their favorite stars. It was touching to see that Kim Hyun Joong worked hard in giving each and every one of his 500 fans a warm smile and a personal "thank you (very much)". He took special care of little girls who went to see him. Indeed, Kim Hyun Joong has surpassed the expectations of his Filipino fans.
Today, August 25, 2011, will be treasured in their memories as the day they finally saw (and/or touched) a walking statue!
